At Work in the Tanneries (#78)

Tourists pass through a shop of leather goods to a viewing platform to watch people working in the tannery pits. I used a telephoto lens to get this image of two men laying out dyed yellow hides to dry. There are three versions of this image. I made a square image for the colour print competition by cropping off the left hand side. The judge commented that cropping off the top and part of the right hand side would produce a simpler and more effective image, and they were right. (In fact, I had already tried this but liked the other version better.) However, I like this landscape version best because it shows the men working in more of their surroundings, which is why I am showing it today. What do you think?
