Comet Over St Ives. Comet C/2020 F3 NEOWISE was a beautiful consolation to the summer of 2020 with a bright core and long streaking tail clearly visible to the unaided eye.
In this photo it is pictured above the waterfront and old bridge in St Ives. As well as a rare bridge chapel, this bridge also bears visible marks of the Civil War, as the southern two arches no longer match having been demolished and replaced by drawbridge to protect Cromwell’s home town.
A technically challenging photo to capture the comet’s dim tail with the bright lights of the town. This was taken on the last opportunity for shooting NEOWISE locally; after this night the clouds covered the sky until it faded from view. Taken July 2020.
