New rules for users of drones over 100g in weight

New rules mean that anyone flying a drone weighing 100g or more outdoors must complete the free online theory test, which will give them a five-year "Flyer ID" licence, previously only required for drones weighing 250g or more...

Passing the Flyer ID test, which is free to take online, shows you understand how to fly drones legally and safely. It expires after five years, when you'll need to retake the test.

If you also own the drone you are flying, you'll need an Operator ID, which costs £11.79 per year (for all drones you own) through the UK Civil Aviation Authority.

For full details and to take your Flying ID test or register for your Operator ID see the Civil Aviation Authority website
