September onwards is usually the best as everything dies back, so everything is easier to spot and birds are visiting the feeders at the Lowland Hide (2-4 metres in front, natural perches). Potential species include Blue Tit, Great Tit, Chaffinch, Dunnock, Nuthatch, Treecreeper, Blackbird, Long-tailed Tit, Robin, Song Thrush, Wren, Mandarin Duck (which bred this year). Kingfishers are seen regularly from the Kingfisher Hide but at a distance, so heavy crops are needed with a 500mm full frame equivalent.
